Our 2009 adopted charity!

OHF founder, Mr. Robert KeeI first knew of his presence, when I happened to watch snippets of this travelogue hosted by Belinda Lee one sleepless night like this. Subsequently, a sis-in-Christ pointed me to the Operation Hope Foundation (OHF, for short) and I was like, “hey, how come this man looks so familiar?”

And a simple tea marks the beginning of our friendship. Robert not only comes across as a dynamic man with a heart for Asia’s homeless children; he is also a dynamic speaker, with quips that do not just paint worldly or nice impressions about some of the challenges faced in setting up orphanages around Asia. I’ve also learnt much of business sense from our brief conversation and his subsequent talk on 7 March, on “Am I ready to be a Missionary?” I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing excerpts of his talk in this post, which I feel is highly relevant for all situations, other than missions field work:

1) God has a reason for our pain
2) Learn right. It is difficult to undo our acquired bad habits
3) Be teachable and willing to make mistakes while in a new job
=> If not, you will be burnt out easily!
4) Be ready to tough it out, at least for 2 years
5) Be bold when you lose, and be calm when you win

For this simple reason, I believe in his legacy, and makes OHF the adopted charity for Joabimages in 2009.

Footnote:
+ 10% of Joabimages’ total monthly income will be donated to OHF, starting on 11 March, 2009.
+ Our donations are NOT tax-exempt, as the funds will be used for work done overseas.
